Second planet from the Sun.
Often called Earth’s “evil twin,” Venus is nearly the same size as Earth — but the similarities end there. At a suffocating 475ºC (900ºF), Venus holds the title of hottest planet in the Solar System thanks to its thick carbon dioxide atmosphere and runaway greenhouse effect. Its surface is hot enough to melt lead and is hidden beneath swirling layers of sulfuric acid clouds.
Did you know: Venus rotates backwards and incredibly slowly: a day there is longer than its year! One orbit takes 225 Earth days, while one day takes 243 Earth days.
